Burial services for Quenten L. Loudermilk, 97, a resident at The Pearl at Five Oaks in Simpsonville, South Carolina, will be at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson County, South Carolina at a later date.

  Mr. Loudermilk passed away peacefully Saturday, July 18, 2020.  

  Born July 13, 1923, in Cornelia, he was the son of the late Winnie Landers and Paul Loudermilk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Loudermilk; and sisters, Kathleen Underwood and Pauline Carrol.

  Quenten graduated from Demorest High School before entering the Air Force in WWII. He flew 37 missions in WWII as a rear torrent gunner in a B-12 bomber including two combat missions in Normandy on D-Day. After the war, he went to Piedmont College then moved to Michigan where he met his wife of 65 years, June Timreck and they were married Sept. 11, 1954.

Quenten worked for General Motors in Ypsilanti, Michigan for 30 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors.  

A devout christian, devoted husband and loving father, he is survived by his wife, June Loudermilk; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Gwyn Loudermilk; and four grandchildren, Katherine, Benjamin, Nicholas and Elizabeth Loudermilk, all of Anderson, South Carolina.  Quenten had eight brothers and sisters. His five surviving siblings include: Zadie Ovaline York of Mt. Airy, Dewitt Loudermilk of Mt. Airy, Paul Efford Loudermilk of Cornelia, Louise Shirley of Turnersville, and Shirley Harper of Jonesboro.
