Ruth McAllister, 81, of Demorest

   A private graveside service for Ruth McAllister, 81, of Demorest, will be held at Yonah Memorial Gardens in Demorest with Dr. Brian James officiating.

   Mrs. McAllister passed away at her home on Monday, July 13, 2020, following a courageous one-year battle with leukemia. She fought a valiant fight with the love and support of so many.

   Born April 16, 1939, in Clarkesville, she was the youngest child of Henry and Leona Anderson. In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her husband of 53 years, Howard L. McAllister; brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Kathrine Anderson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred and C.J. Ellison, and Doris and Hugh Taylor; brother-in-law, Bobby Coker; sister-in-law Ruth Anderson.

   Ruth is survived by daughters, Angie (Ken) Ray, and Amy Hemphill; grandsons, Andy Ray, and Will Hemphill; siblings Bill Anderson, Evelyn (Jim) Dockery; sister-in-law, Helen Coker; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, and life-long friend, Carolyn Williams.

   After retiring from Piedmont Automotive Products in Clarkesville, Ruth enjoyed an active social life. As a member of Level Grove Baptist Church, she served as the secretary of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class, and the secretary for the Sunshine Band. She enjoyed meeting with social groups, traveling, shopping, and dining.     Arrangements have been entrusted to the Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory, North Chapel, Demorest.
