Funeral services for Alma Harrison Browning, also known as “Mrs. Woody,” 90, of Demorest, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with Dr. Tom Mewborn officiating. Burial followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Browning died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014.

Born Dec. 20, 1923, in Grady County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lillie Mae Johnson Harrison. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Browning; two brothers, one sister, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Browning was a member of Demorest Baptist Church. She was a retired co-owner of Woody’s Trading Post and Auction Company and a homemaker.

Survivors include her son, Larry Christie of Demorest; sister, InaJean Nelson of Tallahassee, Fla.; sister-in-law, Linda Harrison of Tennessee; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
