Funeral services for Daniel Timothy Tatum, 15, of Lula, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Beasley officiating. Burial followed in Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Turpin officiating at the graveside.

Mr. Tatum died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012.

Born Aug. 26, 1996, in Newport News, Va., he was the son of Ronnie and Renee Cantrell Tatum of Lula.

Daniel was an 11th-grade student at Banks County High School where he ran cross country and was also enlisted in the JROTC Program. He loved to write music and draw in his spare time. Daniel also loved his siblings very much and had a special bond with his sister, Amber.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Arvil Tatum Jr.; uncle, Kenneth Tatum; great-grandmother, Reba Cantrell; and great-grandfather, O.H. Whitfield.

In addition to his parents, survivors also include his sister, Amber Tatum, and brother, McKenzie Tatum, both of Lula; grandparents, Buddy and Janice Cantrell of Alto, Annie Tatum of Demorest; uncle and aunt, Drew and Caryn Cantrell of Thompson; great-grandparents, Hershel Cantrell of Cornelia, Ruth and Bill Kepler of Alto; several cousins, and other relatives.
