Funeral services for Jim Hill, 84, of Mt Airy, are scheduled for 1 p.m. today, Jan. 2, at Hazel Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Trent Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hill died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at his residence.

Born Oct. 2, 1928, in Fulton County, he was the son of the late John “J.C.” and Ruth Sherwood Hill.

Mr. Hill was self-employed, having owned and operated Jim Hill Grading. He was a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church, where he was the president and former bus driver for the Happy Timers. He enjoyed reading, wood-working and traveling.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Eubanks Hill; son-in-law, Ted Letis; and grandson, Robert James Hill.

Survivors include sons, Robert David Hill of Stone Mountain and Joel Davis Hill (Donna) of West Palm Beach, Fla.; daughters, Mary Dixon (Rickie) of Hayesville, N.C., and Susan Letis and Carol Mashke, both of Mt. Airy; brother, Kenneth Hill of Loganville; sisters, Gayle Childers of Grayson and Dianne Anderson of Barnesville.
