Funeral services for Rex S. Tatum, 83, of Gainesville, formerly of Clarkesville, are scheduled for 1 p.m. today, April 30, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Rev. Doug Saxton officiating. Burial will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Air Force.

Mr. Tatum died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Born Aug. 4, 1930, in Clarkesville, he was the son of the late Floyd B. and Della Icey Stewart Tatum. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ragsdale Tatum; brother, John Tatum; and sister, Ella Tatum.

Mr. Tatum was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was a United States Air Force veteran. Mr. Tatum was a retired electrician with Scovill Manufacturing.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Kenneth Ledford of Clarkesville, Sandra and Dalva Jones of Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Jake Jacobs of Alma; brother and sister-in-law, George and Mary Lou Tatum of Alma; grandchildren, Jaron Loggins, Nathan and Iris Loggins, Derrick Jones, Corey and Anneliese Jones.
