Funeral services for Alma Frye Church, 93, of Clarkesville, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with Dr. Bob Horner officiating. Burial followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Church died Sunday, May 19, 2013.

Born July 23, 1919, in Habersham County, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Brondella Franklin Frye. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reeves E. Church; sisters, Wilma Elder, Gwendolyn Trotter and Eva King; brothers, Lawrence, Loris, Grady and D.V. Frye.

Mrs. Church was a member of First Baptist Church of Cornelia. She was a member of the Ambassadors Club of Georgia Power Retired Employees and she was also a homemaker.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Col. Doug Church (U.S. Army retired) and Evelyn Reeves Church of Clarkesville; three grandchildren, Tracey and David Shalikashvili of Clarkesville, Bryan Church of Lawrenceville and Brent Church of Portland, Ore.; three great-grandchildren, Kyra, Katerina and Alexandra Shalikashvili, all of Clarkesville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
