Funeral services for Betty H. Hendrix, 85, of Demorest, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Rev. Blaine Walker and Josh Hendrix officiating. Burial followed in the Demorest City Cemetery.

Mrs. Hendrix died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014.

Born June 11, 1928, in Otto, N.C., she was the daughter of the late William H. and Icie McClure Henson. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Davis and Edna Barbree.

Mrs. Hendrix received her associate’s degree from Piedmont College. She was a member of the Tomochichi Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member and past officer of the Demorest Women’s Club. Mrs. Hendrix was a member of Cornelia First Presbyterian Church and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a homemaker and was an agent for Metropolitan Life and Causality Life Insurance Company.

Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, J. Perry Hendrix of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, John and Mei Hendrix of Bluefield, W.Va.; grandson, Joshua F. Hendrix of Bluefield, W.Va.; and sister-in-law, Betty D. Hendrix of Mt. Airy.
