Funeral Services for Carolyn Dixon Smith, 90, of Clarkesville, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lisa Graves, the Rev. Robin Martin and David Nix officiating. Burial followed in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith died peacefully Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at her residence with her loving family by her side.

Born Oct. 1, 1922, in Habersham County, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Willa Mae Black Dixon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Newton Smith, and brothers, Frank Dixon and Jerry Dixon.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of Clarkesville First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Sally Elrod, and daughter and son-in-law, Mandy and David Nix, all of Clarkesville; brothers, Dan Dixon (Audrey) of Clarkesville and Jack Dixon (Margaret) of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sisters, Ellen Mooneyham (John) of Sautee, Nancy Anderson of Barnesville; grandchildren, Megan Elrod McKinney (Rob) of Atlanta, Carrie Elrod of Clarkesville, and Sarah Nix of Asheville, N.C.; and great-granddaughter, Fiona Maeve McKinney.
