A celebration of life for Carter Daniel, 66, of Cornelia, will be held at 3:30 p.m. today, April 19, at Cornelia United Methodist Church with Dr. Jay Hughes, the Rev. Wayne Smith and the Rev. Bill Edwards officiating. Full military honors will be provided by Grant Reeves VFW Post No. 7720, Habersham County American Legion Post No. 84, Rabun County DAV Chapter No. 15 and the Georgia National Guard.

Mr. Daniel died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at his residence.

Born Dec. 11, 1946, in San Diego, Calif., he was a son of the late James Randolph and Berta Gaines Daniel.

Mr. Daniel was the owner and operator of C&H Mechanical & Plumbing Inc. for 30 years. He was a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church, where he served on various church boards, and he was a recipient of the Boy Scouts Distinguished Citizen Award. In his spare time, Carter enjoyed planting flowers, spending time at the lake with his family, especially grandchildren, and in his earlier years, he coached several recreational sports teams.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Susie Long Daniel of Cornelia; son, Chad Daniel of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Emilee, Charles and Max Daniel; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Ruth Daniel of Hartwell; sister-in-law, Flogene and Wallace Smith of Greenville, S.C.; brother-in-law, Mickey and Katherine Long of Gainesville; several special nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cornelia United Methodist Church, 275 Wyly St.t, Cornelia, GA 30531, or to the Cokesbury Methodist Church, 2207 Cokesbury Hwy., Hartwell, GA 30643.
