Funeral services for Charles ‘Bear’ Mayfield, 65, of Demorest, will be held at 4 p.m. today, Feb. 29, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Brion K. Williams officiating.
Mr. Mayfield died Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at Habersham Medical Center.
Born Sept. 23, 1946, in Clarkesville, he was the son of the late Robert and Blanche Byers Mayfield. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Stockton.
A lifelong resident of Habersham County, Mr. Mayfield was a member of Oakey Mountain Baptist Church and was retired from the maintenance department with the City of Demorest. Previously he had worked for many years with Clarkesville Mill.
Survivors include nieces and spouses, Brenda and Trevier Hart and Kimberly and Allen Mull, all of Clarkesville; great-niece and great-nephew, Kayla and Christopher Mull, both of Clarkesville; brother-in-law, Ed Stockton of Demorest; one uncle, one aunt, several cousins and other extended relatives also survive.
