Mr. Hughes died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at Habersham Home.
Born Feb. 22, 1937, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late Robert and Violet Mathis Hughes. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Christine Tench Hughes, and daughter, Audrey Carol Hughes.
He was a quality control operator for Schnadig Corporation for 45 years and was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Hughes enjoyed restoring antique cars and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Troy Kisner of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Farrell and Karen Hughes of Demorest; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Shane Garrett of Demorest; brother and sister-in-law, Jackie and Jane Hughes of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Kristie Norton of Alto, Richie Warwick of Demorest, Kasie Hughes of Demorest, Robbie Hughes of Demorest and Travis Wade, who was raised in the home; great-grandchildren, Aiden Wade, Rachel and David Norton; and great-great-grandson, Dallas Norton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today, Feb. 10.
