Clyde Ricky ‘Moon Runner’ Vandergriff

Funeral services for Clyde Ricky “Moon Runner” Vandergriff, 57, of Clarkesville, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 30, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Steve McIntyre officiating. Burial will follow the service in Cool Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Vandergriff died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, following a brief illness.

A lifelong resident of Habersham County, Ricky was the son of Florence Ricketson Vandergriff and the late G.B. Vandergriff Jr.

One of Ricky’s greatest passions in life was truck driving. He owned and operated Moon Runner Express Inc. trucking company. Ricky was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Denise Woodard Vandergriff of Clarkesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Jessica Vandergriff Gabrels (Culley) of Clarkesville, Angel Woodard (Joe Recor) of Demorest; son, Dustin Ricky Vandergriff of Clarkesville; brother and sister-in-law, George and Linda Vandergriff of Clarkesville; sister and brother-in-law, Caron V. and J. Paul Clark of Athens; grandchildren, Brooke Loggins, Madison Gabrels, Jadyn Recor and Katana Recor; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
