Funeral services for Cora Puckett Thompson Whiteside, 88, of Alto, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Scott Ledbetter and Pastor Stacey Miller officiating. Burial followed in Baldwin City Cemetery.

Mrs. Whiteside died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013.

Born Nov. 25, 1925, in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Martha Brown Puckett. She was the widow of Frankie Whiteside and was also preceded in death by her first husband, William Sanford Thompson; and sons, William James Thompson and Royce Edward Thompson.

Mrs. Whiteside was of the Congregational Holliness faith and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter, Jean Franklin of Alto; sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Janell Thompson of Lula, Sanford and Dianne Thompson of Alto, Bobby and Marty Thompson of Alto; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Whiteside was the last member of her immediate family.
