Funeral services for Donald R. Lord, 65, of Baldwin, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Tim Beasley officiating. Burial followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by Habersham County American Legion Post No. 84, Grant Reeves VFW Post No. 7720, Rabun County DAV Chapter No. 15, and the Georgia National Guard.

Mr. Lord died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013.

Born March 17, 1947, in Commerce, he was the son of Donald Jesse Lord of Commerce and the late Mamie Sue Redd Williamson. He also was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Dawn Lord; stepfather, George C. Williamson; stepmother, Mary Peggy Lord; and brother, David C. Williamson.

Mr. Lord was a United States Navy veteran, having proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a retired electronic technician with Lucent Technologies with 33 years of service. Mr. Lord was a life member of Grant Reeves VFW Post No. 7720. Donald enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing golf and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his father, survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Carol Myers Lord of Baldwin; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie Renee and Jason Jackson of Alto; son, Donald Michael Lord of Baldwin; sister, Linda Jane Massey of Franklin; stepsisters,

Bobby Jean of Florida and Geraldine Warren of Lula; stepbrothers, George Prince of Maysville, and Buddy Prince of Lula; grandson, Gavin Scott Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
