A funeral mass for Emma Marie Cox, 73, of Clarkesville, was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with Deacon Richard Marinchak officiating. Burial followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Miss Cox died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at a local area hospital following an extended illness.

Born Feb. 1, 1939, in Madison, N.C., she was the daughter of the late John and Bessie Mae Robertson Cox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Cox, and her sisters, Mary Elizabeth Cox Clark, Ruth Cox Carter, and Evelyn Cox

Clark. Miss Cox retired from the Toccoa Record and was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church.

Survivors include her sisters, Frances Cox Price of Clarkesville, and Josephine Cox Gunter of Cornelia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105, to St. Mark Catholic Church, 5410 Highway 197 South, Clarkesville, GA 30523, or to the charity of one’s choice.
