Funeral services for Ernest V. Gibson, 65, of Demorest, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Clarkesville Baptist Church with the Rev. Grady Walden officiating. Burial followed in Fairfield Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Gibson died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Habersham Medical Center.

Born April 6, 1947, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late Robert and Donnie Nations Gibson. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by five siblings.

He was the former owner and operator of Gibson’s Body Shop and member of Clarkesville Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trading.

Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Laura Gibson of Demorest; stepson, Joe Donald Richmond III of Glouster, Va.; daughter and son-in-law, April and Hayden Saling of Archdale, N.C.; daughter, Stephanie Stafford of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, J. H. “Earl” and Jean Gibson of Clarkesville; sisters, Hazel Nation and Betty Gibson Winkler, both of Demorest, and Carolyn Martin of Clarkesville; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
