Funeral services for Ethel Lanette Erwin Ivester Smith, 86, of Cornelia, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. today, May 2, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Level Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Shannon Irvin officiating.

Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, April 30, 2014.

Born Oct. 3, 1927, in Habersham County, she was a daughter of the late John Candler and Margie Morris Erwin. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, the Rev. Lamar Ivester; second husband, Tom Smith; sisters, Fannie Tilson, Caroline Watkins, Maybelle Ivie, Pauline Batson, Ollie Thompson, Louvenie Simmons; and brothers, Lewis Erwin, Earnest Erwin, Coleman Erwin, Homer Erwin and Ray Erwin.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She was retired from Carwood Manufacturing with fifty years of service. Mrs. Smith was the last survivor of twelve siblings.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Gwen Ivester of Alto; granddaughters and spouses, Amy and Josh Allen, Katie and Shannon Irvin; great-grandchildren, Josiah Irvin, Elihu Irvin, Isaac Irvin and Ava Allen.
