Funeral services for Fermon Loudermilk, 66, of Mt. Airy, are scheduled for 1 p.m. today, July 23, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. William Baker and the Rev. Alvin Burns officiating. Burial will follow in the Loudermilk Family Cemetery with the Rev. Austin Kelley officiating.

Mr. Loudermilk died Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born Oct. 6, 1947, in Habersham County, he was a son of the late Ben L. and Flornett Pless Loudermilk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Elder Marvin Loudermilk.

Mr. Loudermilk was a self-employed poultry farmer with Fieldale Farms for 29 years and had retired as a law enforcement officer with the Department of Transportation, where he served for several years. He was a member of Chopped Oak Baptist Church as well as Mt. Airy Masonic Lodge No. 141 F&AM for many years. Mr. Loudermilk was an avid musician and singer who sang at many benefit and church gatherings. He was a hard worker who enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Dollie Turner Loudermilk of Mt. Airy; daughter, Renee Loudermilk of Lula; stepdaughter, Penny Kesting of Dawsonville; stepgrandchild, Elijah Kesting of Dawsonville; sisters, Virginia Riggins of Mt. Airy, Annie Sellers of Mt. Airy, Shirley Potts of Cornelia, and Linda Hren of Roswell; brother, Lewis Loudermilk of Mt. Airy; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Luther and Hazel Littleton of Mt. Airy; and beloved Jack Russell Terrier, “Tater.”
