Frances ‘Fran’ Franklin

Funeral services for Frances “Fran” Smith Franklin, 72, of Turnerville, are scheduled for 11 a.m. today, Feb. 15, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Thurmond officiating.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Gene Dollar, Reggie Coley, Benjamin Todd, Joseph Todd, Travis Smith and Michael Smith.

Mrs. Franklin died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at her residence.

Born Oct. 29, 1940, in Stephens County, she was a daughter of the late Travis Horace and Katie Lee Collins Smith. She lived most of her life in Habersham County. She also was preceded in death by her husband, “Sonny” Miller H. Franklin, and a son, Tyrone Hayden Franklin.

Mrs. Franklin was an executive secretary with a law firm, was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served as church pianist and was a member of Toccoa Eastern Star Chapter 294.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, T. Horace and Doris Smith of Turnerville; sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Mark Todd of Greenville; three nephews, Michael Travis and Shelly Smith, Benjamin Todd and Joseph and Stephanie Todd; great-niece, Morgan Paige Smith; great-nephew, Travis Smith; and three aunts, Irene Murray, Christine Howard and Jewell Burress, all of Toccoa.
