Mr. Callahan died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, following an extended illness.
Born July 26, 1927, in Greenville, S.C., he was a son of the late Hamlin Harwell Callahan Sr. and Mary Bray Callahan. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Moore Callahan; brother, the Rev. James A. Callahan; and sister, Betty Williams.
Mr. Callahan was retired from Stringer Lumber Company in sales and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. In his spare time, he was an avid golfer and University of Georgia Bulldogs fan. Mr. Callahan served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II.
Surviving are his daughter, Nancy L. Brewster and her husband, Danny, of Mt. Airy; sons, Ed Callahan, Hamlin Callahan III and his wife, Christine, and Mike Callahan, all of Atlanta; brother-in-law, Bill Raper of Marietta; grandchildren, Cari and Emily Brewster and Jack and Charlie Callahan; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the memorial service hour.
