Funeral services for Helen Poole Hawkins, better known as Grandma Helen, 90, of Demorest, formerly of Gainesville, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Timber Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Poole, the Rev. Kenneth McEntire and the Rev. Alvin Burns officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hawkins went to her heavenly home to be with our Lord Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011.

Born in Hall County, April 24, 1921, she was a daughter of the late William Henry and Amanda Hawkins Poole. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Lit” Hawkins; brother, Henry Boyd Poole; sisters, Nellie Poole Hawkins, Edna Poole McEntire; and infant sister, Dixie Poole.

Grandma Helen was a life-long member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church, was a very hard worker and a good Christian woman. She influenced the lives of many in her family, church and community. Grandma Helen was also a very loving sister, mother and grandmother. A void has been left here for the ones who loved her most. Through her testimony, we know that when we all get to Heaven we will be with Grandma longer than we will be without her here on earth. Grandma’s memory will be in our hearts forever.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Charles McEntire of Clarkesville, and Linda and Gary McEntire of Demorest; sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Richard Miller of Lula; brothers and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Billy and Marie Poole of Gainesville, Ed and Patsy Poole of Warner Robins, and Ben and Myrlon Poole of Lula; grandchildren, the Rev.
