James Robert ‘Jim’ Campbell

Memorial services for James Robert “Jim” Campbell, 84, of Clarkesville, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with the Rev. Don Campbell officiating.

Mr. Campbell died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born Dec. 29, 1927, he was the son of the late James Robert Sr. and Annie Marion Campbell Youngblood. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Campbell; brothers, Richard and John Burton Campbell; and sister, Laura Birdsong.

Mr. Campbell was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, a former deacon and a mission worker in Romania. He was retired from Sexton Foods as a food salesman and was a U.S. Marine veteran from the World War II era. In his spare time, Mr. Campbell enjoyed golfing, fishing and yard work.

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Marjorie Campbell of Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Cyndy Campbell of Mt. Airy; daughter, Claire Campbell of Clarkesville; grandson, Thomas Campbell of Mt. Airy; brother, Don Campbell of Mobile, Ala.; and sister, Priscilla Coid of Mobile, Ala.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
