Funeral services for Jeannie Marie Collier Carswell, 60, of Hollywood, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, March 28, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Hollywood with the Rev. Tony Kemp and the Rev. Roger Whiten officiating. Burial will follow at Chopped Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. All friends and family are requested to meet at the church by 12:30 p.m. today, March 28.

Mrs. Carswell died at her home Tuesday, March 25, 2014, due to an extended illness.

Born July 25, 1953, in Toccoa, she was the daughter of Drucilla Bailey Collier of Hollywood and the late William Mose Collier. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Louise and Charles Carswell; and brother-in-law, Jerry Carswell.

Mrs. Carswell’s passion was reading and she also enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, quilting and was a talented artist. She and her husband loved the outdoors and enjoyed traveling to the beach each year. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a member of Ebenezer UMC in Hollywood.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, David L. Carswell of Hollywood; daughter, Jessica Carswell Howard of Hollywood; son and daughter-in-law, Ben and DeAnne Carswell of Clarkesville; daughter and son-in-law, Ally and Gary Lewis of Marietta; brother, Bill Collier and wife Lisa of Mt. Airy; sisters, Lisa Yearwood of Mt. Airy, Ginger Morgan of Vero Beach, Fla., and Cindy Ballew of Fairview Community; and grandchildren, Lauren Howard, RJ Howard, Jasmine Howard and Evie Carswell; brother-in-law, Chris Carswell (Nicole) of Toccoa; sisters-in-law, Charlene Carswell of Alpharetta, Loraine Mattison (Van) of Eastanollee, and Nancy Scott (James) of Toccoa; also surviving are loving nieces, nephews and many other extended family members.
