Funeral services for Jerry A. Hallford, 81, of Demorest, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth McEntire and the Rev. Russ Barker officiating. Burial followed in Habersham Cemetery in Demorest.

Mr. Hallford died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, following an extended illness.

Born Dec. 7, 1930, he was a son of the late James Robert and Myrtle Hightower Hallford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Hallford; sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Jake Church; brothers, Loy Hallford, Hughie Hallford, Clarence “Poon” Hallford, Jimmy Hallford; and a sister-in-law, Sarah Hallford.

He was a life-long resident of Habersham County, and was retired after many years with Clarkesville Mill. Mr. Hallford enjoyed gardening, fishing and meeting with the “Breakfast Bunch” at various restaurants. He attended Habersham Baptist Church and Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn Ballew Hallford of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Tracie and Paul Irby of Flowery Branch; son, Baird Hallford, and son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Cindy Hallford, all of Demorest; brother, Willie Hallford of Clarkesville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Lorraine Hallford, Edward and Mildred Hallford, all of Demorest; sisters-in-law, Ping Hallford of Demorest, Louise Hallford and Majell Hallford, both of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Lew and Jennifer N. Hallford of Demorest, Megan and Cris Gomez of Bogart, Caroline Irby and Christopher Irby, both of Flowery Branch; great-grandchildren, Addisyn and Ayden Hallford, both of Demorest; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
