Memorial services for John Henry Dill, 76, of Alto, are scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Sanford Kimbrell and the Rev. Dennis Wade officiating.

Mr. Dill died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at The Oaks at Scenic View.

Born Sept. 20, 1936, he was a son of the late Hershell and Estelle Mote Dill. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Katie Chambers Henson; a great-granddaughter, Angel Beth Batson; and a brother, George Omer Dill.

Mr. Dill was a self-employed logger and was of the Baptist faith. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors and working on cars.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Sylvia Mae McEntire Dill of Alto; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Lindsey Manning of Demorest, Linda and James Loudermilk of Toccoa; son and daughter-in-law, John Mitchell and Mary Lou Dill of Alto; sisters, Ethel Irene Hunnicutt of Cornelia, Leona Butler of Mt. Airy, Annie Wiley of Clarkesville and Betty Smith of Mt. Airy; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to Alto Baptist Church, 210 B.C. Grant Road, Alto, GA 30510.
