Funeral services for Joseph Norton Stephens Sr., 87, of Baldwin, are scheduled for 11 a.m. today, June 12, 2013, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Dr. Eric Spivey and the Rev. David Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Baldwin City Cemetery.

Mr. Stephens died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born March 27, 1926, in Hawkinsville, he was a son of the late Clarence Paul and Lettie Cheek Stephens. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Tena Powers Stephens; and a brother, Clarence Paul Stephens Jr.

Mr. Stephens was the owner and operator of Stephens Television and was a member of First Baptist Church in Cornelia. He was also a United States Air Force and Navy veteran. He had resided in Baldwin for the past 25 years since moving from Dawson.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph N. “Joe” Jr. and Donna Stephens of Peachtree City; daughter, Pattie Stephens of Baldwin; sister, Emily Haynes of Palatka, Fla.; and grandchildren, Stefanie Stephens and Brett Stephens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9-11 a.m. today, June 12, prior to the service.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made in Mr. Stephens’ memory to First Baptist Church of Cornelia, P.O. Box 96, Cornelia, GA 30531.
