Funeral services for Karle Fredrick Maxwell, 51, of Mt. Airy, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Rev. Billy Burrell officiating. Burial followed in Return Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Maxwell died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at his residence.

He was born June 20, 1960, in Tampa, Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melody Burrell Maxwell.

Mr. Maxwell graduated from Bob Jones University and received his master’s degree from Clemson University. He was minister of music at Return Baptist Church for 10 years. Mr. Maxwell served as an administrator in the Habersham County School System for more than 25 years. He started in the Habersham County School System in 1986, as a music teacher. Mr. Maxwell also served as assistant principal and principal at Clarkesville Elementary, North Habersham Middle, Baldwin Elementary and Hazel Grove Elementary Schools. He was currently assistant principal at Hilliard Wilbanks Middle School in Demorest.

Survivors include his parents, Karle and Helen Maxwell of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter, Kayla Maxwell of Mt. Airy; sons, Kyle Maxwell and Kris Maxwell, both of Mt. Airy; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Ali Maxwell of Chandler, Ariz.; brother, John Maxwell of Salt Lake City, Utah; and one grandchild, Destyni Banks.
