Funeral services for Larry Marion Blackwell, 68, of Clarkesville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Old Nacoochee Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Gragg, the Rev. Bill Trotter and the Rev. Jerry Vandiver officiating. Burial followed in Old Nacoochee Baptist Church Cemetery.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Bradley Keith, Levie Blackwell, Eric McIntyre, Doug McIntyre, David McIntyre and David Arnold.

Mr. Blackwell died Friday June 20, 2014, at Habersham Medical Center.

Born Oct. 29, 1945, in Stephens County, he was a son of the late Marion and Catherine Stephens Blackwell. He also was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. He lived most of his life in Stephens County.

Mr. Blackwell was retired from Morris Transportation Co. with a number of years of service and served in the United States Navy. He was a member of Old Nacoochee Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher for 20 years and a church officer.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia English Blackwell of the home; two daughters, Tammy Blackwell of California and Patrice (Doug) Smith of Clarkesville; one stepdaughter, Anne Ritchie of Thompson; two stepsons, Keith (Patricia) Ritchie of Winder, and Mike Ritchie of Westminster, S.C.; two grandchildren, Eric (Shannon) Smith and Tyler Smith; four step-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; four brothers, Kenneth, Ronnie, Donnie and Tony; and four sisters, Sue, Nadine, Peggy and Donna.
