Funeral services for Lee Martin, 74, of Clarkesville, are scheduled for 11 a.m. today, Oct. 5, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Rev. Tommy Childress officiating. Burial will follow in the Hills Crossing Baptist Church Cemetery, Clarkesville.

Mr. Martin died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, following an extended illness at his residence.

Born Nov. 5, 1937, in Clarkesville, he was the son of the late Walter Lee and Pauline Jarrell Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Lee Martin; sister, Betty Smith; and brother, Larry Martin.

Mr. Martin was a retired farmer with Fieldale Corporation, and retired from Riegel Textile, (which is now known as Mt. Vernon Mills). He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Martin of Clarkesville; sons, Doug Martin of Turnerville, and Steven Martin of Mt. Airy; sister, Cathy Clark of Alto; brother, Ross Martin of Cornelia; and three grandchildren, Joseph Martin, Adia Martin and Daniel Martin.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Amedisys Hospice, 53 Rock Drive, Toccoa, GA 30577.
