Funeral services for Loran Mealor, 79, of Demorest, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Rev. Terry Rice and the Rev. Tommy Stowe officiating. Burial followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post No. 7720, Habersham County American Legion Post No. 84, Rabun County D.A.V. Chapter No. 15, and the Georgia National Guard.

Mr. Mealor died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born July 27, 1932, in Banks County, he was the son of the late Warren and Bertha Caudell Mealor. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Shelby Jean Seabolt and Eula Mae Cook, and his brother, Leroy Mealor.

Mr. Mealor was a United States Army veteran, having proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Habersham Metal Products with 37 years of loyal and dedicated service. Mr. Mealor was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, fishing, flowers, and his dog.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ruth Mealor of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Tommy Withrow of Demorest, and Pam and Gary Wright of Clarkesville; sisters, Merlene Worley and Barbara Dill, both of Homer; brothers, J.C. Mealor of Mt. Airy, and Jarvis Mealor of Homer; grandsons, Kyle Withrow and his wife, Megan, and Mark Withrow, all of Demorest; and great-grandsons, Hunter and Easton Withrow, both of Demorest.
