Mrs. Carson died at her home Sept. 25, 2012, after a brief illness.
Born in Habersham County, she was the daughter of the late James Augustus Roberts and Beatrice Church Roberts. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Sherry Rebecca Carson; sister, Irene Roberts Humphries; and brothers, Fred Roberts, Otis Roberts, R.B. Roberts and George Roberts.
Mrs. Carson was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for more than 50 years where she was active in the adult choir, church flower ministry and Women’s Missionary Union. After working at Piedmont Automotives for many years, her love of cooking led her into the catering business. She enjoyed camping with her husband, where they met many lifelong friends.
Mrs. Carson is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jay Carson of Clarkesville; son, James Carson of Sautee; daughter, Carol Carson of Clarkesville; granddaughter, Caitlyn Carson of Athens; sister-in-law, Virginia Roberts of Clermont; and several nieces and nephews.
