Funeral services for Marie Rowland Canup, 83, of Clarkesville, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 23, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Austin Ivester and the Rev. Gerald Lee officiating. Burial will follow the service at Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Canup died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Habersham Medical Center.

Born Feb. 15, 1929, in Hiawassee, she was the daughter of the late William “Will” C. and Margaret Sprinkles Rowland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Holman Canup; son-in-law, Namon Ivester; granddaughter, Rebecca Ivester; and half-sister, Effie Rowland.

Mrs. Canup retired from the finishing department of Scovill Fasteners Inc. with more than 40 years of loyal service. She attended Turnerville Church of God.

Survivors include her daughters, Patsy Ivester of Turnerville and Donna Collins of Cleveland; sons, Bruce Canup (Kathy), Billy Canup (Deana), Wendell Canup (Jeanette), and Travis Canup, all of Clarkesville; sisters, Betty Lovell (Robert) of Hollywood and JoAnn Goss (Bruce) of Clarkesville; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, two stepgreat-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from noon-2 p.m. today, Nov. 23, prior to the service.
