Memorial services for Marshall McMahan, 77, of Mt. Airy, will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 5, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with David Terrell officiating. Entombment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens, with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps.

Mr. McMahan died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, following a sudden illness.

Born Oct. 18, 1935, in Celo, N.C., he was the son of the late Harrison and Rosie Parker McMahan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Flossie Mae Autrey McMahan; sisters, Wilma Sappé and Juanita Russell; and brothers, John and Alvis McMahan.

Mr. McMahan was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a retired diesel mechanic in the trucking industry. Mr. McMahan was a member of Cornelia Christian Church. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Ricky Jackson of Cornelia; son and daughter-in-law, Darrel and Penny McMahan of Homer; sister, Betty Cooper of Inverness, Fla.; four grandchildren, Joshua McMahan, Cody McMahan, Taylor Jackson and Alyssa Jackson.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the memorial service hour at the funeral home.
