Marvin Edward ‘Slim’ Erwin

Funeral services for Marvin Edward “Slim” Erwin, 78, of Clarkesville, will be held at 3 p.m. today, July 11, at Unity Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Stroud officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Mr. Erwin died Monday, July 9, 2012, at his residence.

Born July 28, 1933, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late William P. and Grace Elizabeth Reed Erwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Altice, and brothers, William Erwin and Wallace Erwin.

Mr. Erwin was the previous owner of the Early Sundown Campground and he was a bus driver for Habersham County Schools. He was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Duff of Clarkesville, Luciana Allen of Dahlonega, Laneah Clark of Toccoa; son, Allen Erwin of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters, Bonnie LeCompte of Plainfield, Ind., Jolene Erwin of Clarkesville, Ruth White of Clermont; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
