Funeral services for Melton Lavern Gibby, 83, of Cleveland, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, at Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Paul Flynn and the Rev. Dennis Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Gibby died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at his residence.

Born June 1, 1929, in Greenville, S.C., he was the son of the late Calloway and Hazel Addis Gibby. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Dortha Lovell Gibby, and sister, Betty Hanson.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. He attended Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church. Mr. Gibby was retired from Johnson and Johnson Manufacturing and was the co-owner of M.L. Gibby Auto Sales Inc.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Yvonne Gibby of Cleveland; Melton and Shirley Gibby of Cornelia; grandchildren, Charity Jones, Heath Williams, Jonathan Gibby, Matthew Welborn, Ashley Gibby; and six great-grandchildren.
