THOMSON – Memorial services for David Michael “Mike” Cook, 66, of Hemlock Drive were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home with the Rev. Butch Baston officiating.

Mr. Cook entered into rest June 23, 2013.

Born in Sand Mountain, Ala., he was the son of the late Robert Donald Cook Sr. and the late Mattie Braswell Cook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Donald Cook Jr.

He was a 1965 graduate of Sprayberry High School in Marietta. Following graduation he played minor league baseball with the Detroit Tigers for five years. Mr. Cook then worked in the insurance business and retired as a Cotton States representative with Mike Cook Agency after 30 years of service. He attended Union Baptist Church in Thomson.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Christie N. Cook; sons, Derek Michael Cook, David Charles Cook, both of Canton; stepson, Allen Sikes of Camak; stepdaughter, Cori Reese of Wrightsville; brother, Johnny Cook of Woodstock; sister, Vickie Cook Turner of Bruinswick; and nine grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or to Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson, was in charge of arrangements.
