Funeral services for Mildred Watson Davis, 96, of Demorest, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Cornelia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jay Hughes, the Rev. Mitch Evans and the Rev. Julia Rautenberg officiating. Burial followed in Level Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Davis died Friday, March 16, 2012, at Habersham Home West.

Born April 12, 1915, in Demorest, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Mae Church Watson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Roy Davis; her sister, Christine Seymour; and her brothers, Earl, Lorraine and Lawrence Watson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was a faithful member of Cornelia United Methodist Church for more than 80 years, where she sang in the chancel choir and taught in the Children’s Sunday School Department for many years.

Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and also worked at Belk Gallant in Cornelia for a number of years. She was a charter member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors of North Georgia.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Charlie Wood of Demorest; her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sherry Davis of Cornelia; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and special long-time caregivers, Julia Rautenberg and Judy Crowe.
