Mr. McAllister died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at Emory University Hospital.
Born Aug. 16, 1936, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late Paul and Pearl McConnell McAllister. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Lovell, and brothers, James, Eugene and Freddy McAllister.
Mr. McAllister was retired from the United States Postal Service where he served for 32 years, including 14 years as a postmaster. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and enjoyed bird watching and gardening.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Wanda Spivey McAllister of Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jeannie McAllister of Kennesaw; daughter and son-in-law, Monica McAllister-Patrick and Paul Patrick of Peachtree City; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Marvine McAllister of Marietta; brother, David McAllister of Fayetteville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Dank Whitlock of Alto, Marilyn and Vann Wildes of Houchton and Peggy and Joe Smith of Cumming. Mr. McAllister was a proud grandfather of Blake Patrick.
