The Rev. Webb died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at his residence.
Born May 16, 1929, in Habersham County, he was a son of the late Allie and Mae Trotter Webb. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Allie Mae Petty.
He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Theology from Tennessee Temple University and was ordained as a Baptist minister at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in 1954. He then served, for the next 58 years, as pastor of numerous churches in Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina and evangelized all along the East Coast. He was a current member of Stonepile Baptist Church, where he also previously pastored. In his spare time, the Rev. Webb enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising beagles and bee keeping.
Survivors include his loving wife, whom he married in 1952, Ruth Locke Webb of Clarkesville; daughters, Kathy Turner of Clarkesville and Amy Webb of Greensboro, N.C.; brothers, Joseph A. Webb of New Zealand, Carl E. Webb of Clarkesville and Bobby Webb of Clarkesville; sisters, Louise Bassinger of Clarkesville, Betty Ottman of Clayton, and Kitty Faulkner of Rome; grandchildren, Stefanie Turner Eaton and Michael Eaton, both of Baldwin, Matthew Turner of Demorest, Autumn H. LaGamba of Greensboro, N.C., and Mandi R. LaGamba of Greensboro, N.C.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today, Feb. 29, at the funeral home.
