A Home-going service for Richard Malone McKinley, 82, of Cleveland, is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at The Bridge Church with the Rev. Patrick Ballington officiating.
Mr. McKinley entered into eternal life with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Aug. 4, 2012, following an extended illness.
He was born May 28, 1930, in Festus, Mo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Hayes; his father, Raymond McKinley; and son-in-law, Wesley Hanks.
Mr. McKinley was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He was a thrill-seeker most of his life, racing boats for Outboard Marine Corporation, Waukegan, Ill. He set world records. Mr. McKinley flew a plane at the Cleveland Airport for his 80th birthday celebration and went skydiving for his 81st. He was a member of The Bridge Church. What a wild ride it’s been.
Survivors of his immediate family include his wife, Rhea McKinley; daughters, Stephanie Hanks and Stacy McKinley; daughter and son-in-law, Amber and David Clark; son, Shane McKinley; grandchildren, Dezirae Hanks, Jamie Spurlock, Gunner Hanks, Jagger Hanks, Aleaha Mangum, Heaven Clark, Jaydin McKinley, Khloe Clark; great-grandson, Elijah Hanks; and numerous in-laws and friends also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Suite 222, Gainesville, GA 30501.
