Funeral services for Ronald Meeks, 60, of Clarkesville, were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Wright and the Rev. Jerry Mize officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Meeks died June 7, 2012, at Emory University.

Born Jan. 28, 1952, in Habersham County, he was a son of Evelyn Waddell Meeks of Clarkesville and the late Joseph “Odell” Meeks. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his son, Ronald Jeffrey Meeks; grandson, Joseph Maxwell Meeks; and father-in-law, Dan Martin.

Mr. Meeks was a truck driver for 35 years and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was an avid gun enthusiast, having enjoyed coon hunting and deer hunting. He also was a NASCAR fan.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Donna Meeks of Clarkesville; daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Eric Peppers of Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Leslie Meeks of Demorest; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Cathy Meeks of Turnerville; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Renee, Shelby and Alexis Meeks and Caroline Peppers; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Martin of Hollywood; longtime family friend, Winona Young of Toccoa; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
