Funeral services for Ronnie Purdy, 57, of Demorest, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 19, from Hillside Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Austin Kelley officiating. Burial will follow the service in Clarkesville Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Purdy died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born Nov. 15, 1956, in Habersham County, he was the son of Ethel Broome Purdy and the late Gordon Purdy. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lee Purdy.

Mr. Purdy was of the Baptist faith and retired from the City of Clarkesville, where he worked in the Public Works Department.

Survivors include his wife, Dorla Smith Purdy of Demorest; mother, Ethel Broome Purdy of Baldwin; sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Diana Purdy and Travis and Samantha Purdy, all of Demorest; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Reynolds Fry of Clarkesville; sister, Jane Garrett of Alto; and three grandchildren, Travis, Daniel and Jasmine.
