ROYSTON – Funeral services for Roy Arnold Mize, 86, of Royston, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Bowman, with the Rev. Edward Sayer and the Rev. Scott Mize officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Mize died Friday, May 16, 2014, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.

Born July 27, 1927, in Vanna, Ga., he was a son of the late Otha Mize and the late Quillie Winn Mize. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Vaughn Mize. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was also preceded in death by an infant son, Gary Dale Mize; daughter, Dianne Mize Brown; eight brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Mize was a farmer and long-time member and deacon of Holly Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Pulliam Osley Mize; children and spouses, Debbie (Dan) Holcomb of Baldwin, Darlene (Michael) Bartlett of Evans, Donna (Billy) Dixon of Cleveland, Dennis (Marie) Mize of Dewy Rose, and Dr. David (Barbara) Mize of Elberton; stepdaughter, Kathy Osley Bond of Hartwell; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren with two on the way.
