Funeral services for Vermon Wright, 90, of Cornelia, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, March 14, at Level Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian James and Waymon Kimbrel officiating. Burial will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Wright died Sunday, March 11, 2012.

Born June 19, 1921, in Hall County, he was the son of the late William Luther and Vallie Patton Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Sylvia Matherson Wright; stepson, Larry Long; his brothers, Lawrence, Amos and Carvin Wright; and his sister, Virginia Copeland.

Mr. Wright was the oldest active member of Level Grove Baptist Church, having become a member in 1944. He was a deacon and a member of the Adult Sunday School Class, where he served as secretary. He was a retired employee of Schnadig Corporation with 19 years of service.  

Survivors include his devoted loving wife of 35 years, Faye Newsome Long Wright of Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Doug Davis of Ellenwood, and Joy and Clay Echols of Alto; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Geneva Wright of Forest Park; stepson and wife, Ronnie and Cathy Long of Cornelia; sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Hoyt Rudeseal of Cornelia; sisters, Floyce Mallory of Cornelia, and Reba Lee Barry of Milton, Fla.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
