A private family memorial service for William Amos Ferguson Jr., 58, of Cornelia, will be held at a later date.

Mr. Ferguson died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at the home following a sudden illness.

Born March 22, 1955, in Demorest, he was the son of the late William A. Ferguson Sr. and Martha Sarah Harris Ferguson.

He was a United States Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam conflict. Mr. Ferguson was employed with the Georgia Department of Corrections at Lee Arrendale Correctional Institute. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Clarkesville.

Survivors include his sister, Pamela Strickland (Randy) of Cornelia; brother, Douglas R. Ferguson (Jeannette) of Clermont; nieces and nephews, Trista and Brad Grizzle of Clermont, Joey “Jo Jo” Ferguson of Cornelia, Pamela and Kurt Gosnell of Cornelia, and Chase and Tanner Strickland of Cornelia; grandniece and nephew, Makenzie and Levi Gosnell; loving friend, Lori Gough of Cornelia; and close friend, Anne Christol of Demorest.
