Memorial services for Susan Adele Keefer, 62, of Bland, Va., will be held at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bakersville, Md., at a later date.

Mrs. Keefer died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011.

Born Sept. 16, 1949, in Fort Lee, Va., she was the daughter of Col. Chester Hancock and Ann Hancock.

Susan volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in Northeast Georgia. She worked as a therapist for emotionally-disturbed children, and directed a volunteer flood relief effort in Albany. Susan also served on the board for Lutheran Ministries of Georgia for many years. In addition, Mrs. Keefer was an active writer and artist.

She is survived by her mother, Ann Hancock; husband, Lee Keefer; sons, Seth and Garth; and grand-daughter Giovanna.
