Memorial services for Lunette Swanson Hamby, 88, of Clarkesville, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at Cornelia Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Richard Pletsch officiating. A private burial was held.

Mrs. Hamby died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, in Cleveland, following an extended illness.

Born Sept. 22, 1923, in Acworth, she was the daughter of the late Lafayette and Ruby Mae Davenport Swanson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Hamby; a sister, Alethea Hughes; and a brother, Hartley Swanson.

Mrs. Hamby was a member of Cornelia Presbyterian Church and was a very dedicated wife, mother, grandmother. Mrs. Hamby and her husband, Ben, were very active in Sharing and Caring in Cornelia. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include: her daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly H. and Jerre Harvard of Clarkesville, Barbara H. and Richard Pletsch of Sautee; her grandchildren, Jay Harvard, Valerie Wells, Jason Pletsch and Michael Pletsch; her great-grandchildren, Benjamin Harvard, Magnus Harvard, Haley Wells and Abby Wells.
