Funeral services for Blondell Knight Dill, affectionately known as “Granny,” of Mt. Airy, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Rev. Jerry Mize and the Rev. Gerald Bennett officiating. Burial followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Dill went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at her residence following an extended illness. She was 90 years old.

Born July 9, 1921, in Lancaster, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Robert Jackson and Jincy Rogers Knight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Dill Sr.

Mrs. Dill was a homemaker, enjoyed cooking and was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Rock Hill, S.C. She was a loving wife, mother and granny. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Jimmy Tench of Alto, Patricia and Hillard Garrett, Emmie Lou and Glen Davis, and Diane and Kerry Cash, all of Mt. Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph Jr. “Pinky” and Susan Dill of Jacksonville, Fla., and Steve and Donna Dill of Toccoa; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; special neighbor and friend, Mary Hamel of Mt. Airy; and numerous nieces, nephews and other friends. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
