Mr. Tyler died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at his residence.
Born Oct. 12, 1933, in Rabun County, he was a son of the late J.L. and Leona Free Tyler. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tyler was also preceded in death by daughters, Patricia Jane Tyler and Emily Jean Tyler Dehart; and a brother, Charles Tyler.
Mr. Tyler was a member of Community Baptist Church and served as a deacon in several local churches for a total of 40 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Clarkesville Mill. Mr. Tyler enjoyed spending time at church, with his family, gardening and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Pauline Burrell Tyler of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Barry Mullinax of Clarkesville; brothers, John Tyler of Lavonia and James Tyler of Chatsworth; sister, Bonnie Babcock of Flora, Ind.; sister-in-law, Annie Marcus of Clarkesville; special aunts, Mildred Gunn of Demorest and Leona Tyler of Clayton; grandchildren, Laura and Chad Simmemon, Gator Emery and Allison Mullinax and Jeannie Simmons; and great-grandchildren, Dedra Simmemon, Shelby Simmemon and Chloe Simmons.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. today, Feb. 24.
